At 4pm on Friday, Boot is asking for anyone who has the time or energy to help out at the store as he is I need some folks that can help move stuff, others that can help do some carpentry, etc: "For now, we are closing down our retail location right next door to the repair shop and consolidating it sort of the way we used to have it. We'll have all the tools and materials here, though if you have your own tools you want to bring (hammers, nail guns, etc) you are welcome to. We will be building a couple of faux walls, setting up shelving, making a table or two. Some light painting may occur. I really could use help. Black Creek Arts Council is offerring "Watercolor-Not Quite Beginner and Beyond". Learn basic Watercolor skills and more while completing a cotton painting called "The Bold Boll." The Coker College women's soccer team will be hosting a "Spring Break Camp" for girls and boys ages 4-13 on Monday, April 2-Friday April 6. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily at the Coker Soccer Field. Campers will learn skills related to soccer including dribbling, passing and shooting. There will also be goalkeeper training, as well as daily games and activities for the campers. Cost is $50 per camper and includes a free camp t-shirt. TGIF! The Women's League of Hartsville's 25th Annual Auction is a little over two weeks away, so make plans to stop by Lulu's, Minnie's or Burry Bookstore to buy tickets. Black Creek Arts Council is now offering Knitting and Crocheting classes. "Crocheting 101", taught by Melissa McCoy, will be offered on Tuesdays, January 31 through February 21. "Knitting 101", taught by Casey Gainey, will be offered on Thursdays, February 2-23. Both classes will begin at 6:30 and end at 7:30pm. In just four weeks, you will learn basic stitches, how to read a pattern, and create beautiful projects. The cost of each class is $40 and includes yarn and needles to complete your first projects. Starting on January 31, Adrian Rhodes will begin a five week adventure in "Relief Printing" at the Black Creek Arts Center in Hartsville. Relief printmaking is a fun way to hand create images in multiple. It's great for cards, gifts, and more! Small blocks can be used as stamps, while larger pieces can create detailed works of original art. You cut away all parts of the image which you want to remain white, leaving the relief to pick up ink and spread your vision. In this class, you will learn how to transfer your drawing onto a linoleum block, carve your relief, and start printing. The cost of the class is $75 plus your materials. Starting November 5th! The talented Steve-O will be conducting a cazy and fun ukulele class on Saturdays at 4pm at Frets & Necks. Steve-O is a pro at showing kids how to play the uke, a great primer for guitar. He uses a variety of techniques, styles, and songs that kids know and love. It's sure to be a merry time! Starts Novemeber 5th (skipping the week of Thanksgiving) Ends December 17 (With a recital for parents) 6 lessons total $12 per lesson per kid (discounts available for families of 2 or more kids) 1st lesson free with the purcchase of a uke. Saturdays 4pm-5pm (Additional times will be added if there is an overflow of students) Ukes are 29.95, come with a case, and come in all colors. Parents are welcome to hang out during the lesson.
